Real Cost of Cat Fountains

REAL COST OF CAT FOUNTAINS

The sticker cost of cat fountains is definetly not the real cost over time. Here you can learn the real cost of a pet fountain.

At first look many cat fountains appear to be quite inexpensive while a ThirstyCat fountain seems expensive. Look a little deeper though and the picture changes significantly.

Below are a few of the commercial cat fountains (that is to say, mass produced in china), along with one Thirstycat Fountain and their real costs. Other commercial cat fountains and pet fountains are similar.

Recognized undisputedly as the most durable, highest rated, most food safe, easiest to clean and by far the most attractive - and with designs for every breed and temperament - the only objection ever expressed about a ThirstyCat fountain is the price. And the initial price is higher than most, but over several years, a ThirstyCat fountain is the least expensive cat fountain you can buy. Why? First, because a ThirstyCat Fountain lasts a lifetime with reasonable care. None of the other brands will. And, because the filtration system lasts so much longer than all other brands, which, according to their manufacturers need replacing at least every three weeks, running up the cost significantly over time. See below.

  • The Pioneer Raindrop costs $45 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the minimum recommend rate of every 3 weeks will bring the total cost for purchase and filters to $270.
  • The Drinkwell Avalon costs $80 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the minimum recommend rate of every 3 weeks will bring the cost to $300.
  • The Drinkwell Platinum costs $45 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the minimum recommend rate of every 3 weeks will bring the total cost to $320.
  • The Drinkwell 360 costs $70 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the recommend rate of every cleaning or about once a week will bring the total cost to $590.
  • Thirstycat Fountains cost on average $140 to purchase. Our carbon filters last six months or more (we use 60 times the carbon of other brands) and our foam filters last two years. Over a five year period the total cost including purchase price will be $230 using both the foam and carbon filters continually. Many people don't need the carbon filters, in which case the total cost over five years will be $180. And all the while you, and your cats, will be enjoying the most beautiful and healthful and easiest to clean cat fountain money can buy - for less than any other.
n addition, a ThirstyCat fountain lasts a lifetime. Most others do not come close.

I am a veterinarian with specialty training (ie board certified) in internal medicine. Cats are my favorite species and I’m always on the look out for ways to improve their well being. I first saw these fountains on the American Association for Feline Practitioners website. I was impressed and eventually ordered a fountain for my cats (Brackentree).
Yes these fountains cost more than the “Economy” varieties, but there is a saying, “you get what you pay for”, and when folks complain about prices….well…I’ll take quality over junk any day.”

I have Thirsty Cat Fountain brochures at my hospital, so clients can find about this wonderful product.” Heather F. –  Veterinary Angels

Heathers' Cat Enjoying her Brackentree

I really love your fountains. They are absolutely the best. The materials you use are top quality for the health of the cat. The designs are beautiful, unique and are truly a work of art. I also love the personal service you offer to each of your customers. You are always prompt in responding to any question I have ever needed answered. Never change how you do business. You are top notch.

Yes the original investment for your fountains seems high. But your fountains last years. I replaced my first one because I dropped it and it broke. That was after years of use. I’ve had my second one for maybe 5 years with absolutely no problems at all.I clean it once a week. Takes me about 10 minutes because I take all the pieces apart and clean each one. Simple.
Thank you for making such a great product. The quality and designs are outstanding.”
