Before we realized the great need for truly healthful, beautiful, high quality fountains for cats, we were creating handmade ceramic fountains for home décor. We still are.
Seeing the abundance of cheaply made, unattractive, hard to clean and downright harmful cat fountains online, after some study we modified our home decor fountain designs to address cats’ needs and drinking preferences in order to provide an attractive and truly healthful alternative. That was the birth of ThirstyCat Fountains.
Home Decor Cat Fountains
Now, every ThirstyCat fountain is created to be a beautiful piece of ceramics as well as a thoroughly satisfying and effective cat fountain.
From our our wheel-thrown bowls and hand-formed, carved and glaze-painted center pieces to our in-house created glazes, we strive to create excellent cat fountains that also add to the beauty of your home.
If we wanted simply to make handmade, healthful ceramic cat fountains, that would still require considerable work, but would not be nearly as involved as making fountains for cats that are at the same time visually and aurally as pleasing as, for example, the fountains shown here.
Harmonies & Focal Points In Home Decor
One of several principles used abundantly in the art of Home Decor is that of Focal Points and a ThirstyCat Fountain is excellent for this.
The unique form of a ThirstyCat fountain, placed in a prominent location will always draw the eye and bring attention to that portion of the room.
Focal points can at the same time and are all the more effective when the fountain also provides color harmonies and or contrasts as with this Mahogany fountan bowl, the table, floor and plant.
You can also consider how the color of the fountain harmonizes or contrasts pleasantly with your felines, as well as with the furnishings.
Another way these fountains can add to your home decor is by textural contrasts. Ceramics look great near most fabrics and this can be enhanced by having the fountain near very soft textures such as natural cotton, corduroy or velvet, for example. Harder surfaces such as leather create more of a harmony.
Bringing a color found abundantly in other parts of the room to an area is a nice way to unify a space, tieing the whole together.
