At ThirstyCats we are sometimes tempted to enter the rushing river of technological developments in the creation of our fountains, if only to keep up with the countless gizmo-infused fountains sold everywhere and all made in China – High tech Battery powered, Blue Tooth controlled jobs with elaborate (and unhealthy) filtration, lights and sounds and digital readouts of volumes consumed…
And then we think of what we are actually about – authentic craftsmanship, genuineness of materials – about art and beauty and integrety…and we turn away, determined to pursue the quality we constantly strive for and for which we are known. This isn’t hype. This is what we do.
There may come a time when the current members of ThirstyCats are no longer involved and the new masters of the realm will bring in those technological alterations and you, the customer, may then want them. That’ s also about the time that new materials will replace the natural clays and mineral glazes and slicker methods of manufacture will outbid the techniques of creation we use from technologies developed thousands of years ago and then ThirstyCats will carrry on in name alone. But that day is not today.
In fact there is an ever growing trend today for the good old fashioned quality of earlier times; for the look and feel of unique pieces with character, that add to homes the timeless value of real things made by real people.
Many people are tired of the ever present, downright invasive and all too frequently poor quality of thechnologically advanced products now offered in about every department of life. There is a yearning for the way things used to be made – with integrety, of real materials and built to last. And Beautiful. There are a lot of sleek looking gadgets and gizmos (and high tech cat fountains) out there but are they beautiful? In truth, they are not.
So today we continue to honor the genuine creations, the quality and craftsmanship that has given Thirstycat Fountains the sterling reputation it has and the respect it receives, even from our competitors. “I love your fountains”, a major brand representative recently said when he called to ask if we could make fountains for them. (We couldn’t. It simply wasn’t possible.)
So we thank You without whom we would not exist, and we encourage you to enjoy your fountains, not only for their excellence as cat fountains but as well for the beauty and integrety they bring to your home, hailing from an epoch when creating anything other than the best was unthinkable.
