Ceramic Indoor Fountains

You’re here, probably, because you searched for ‘ceramic indoor fountain’. You think you want one and this post encourages you to get one because there are so many good reasons for having a ceramic indoor fountain. Apart from the fact that ceramic indoor fountains add a unique beauty to your home which you can enjoy daily, as will your guests, they also provide other benefits. They are aurally delightful (and are adjustable to be more or less quiet), they humidify your home and they generate beneficial ‘negative ions’, which are good for your health.

Indoor Fountains & Negative (Positive) Ions

One of the hidden reasons so many people like to be near a body of water, and especially moving water is for the healthfulness of  negative ions created by moving water. We simply feel better around them. Indoor fountains, to a less degree than say, a waterfall or the ocean, certainly, also generates these negative ions.

Further, a high quality ceramic indoor fountain will last a lifetime (this is not true for many indoor fountains of lesser quality), so a quality ceramic indoor fountain is an excellent investment that will provide you these benefits for many years to come.

Then there is the very real satisfaction that comes from having a handmade work of ceramic art. Here is a link that speaks of the value of having a quality work of art in your home.

And, there are still more benefits from having an indoor fountain. Perhaps of a bit more esoteric nature but valid and important all the same. The Goodnet site, “gateway to doing good” says that indoor fountains have the: “ ability to lower cortisol levels, the body’s primary stress hormone, diminishing stress and anxiety.

The Enormous Difference Between Handmade and Manufactured

One of the biggest difficulties we as creators of handmade ceramic indoor fountains face is the lack of discrimination of buyers. The Chinese and other do a great job of manufacturing pretty convincing semblances of quality handmade work – without the quality or the handmade. If someone doesn’t see the difference between a pretty, mass produced piece and our works of ceramic art, why would they pay more? And yet it is more true to say that there really isn’t any comparison between a manufactured, resin-made indoor fountain and a handmade ceramic indoor fountain, for many reasons. Allow us to clarify.

Mold-Made Resin Using Laser Technology Or Handmade Ceramic?

What do the pair of images above show? They seem fairly similar, yet they could not be more different. The image on the left shows a silicon, two part mold and the ‘sculpture’ that came out of it. There are hundreds of that identical ceramic sculpture that came out of that same mold, created using lasers programed to cut fine details into some material into which silicon is then poured. Once the mold is made, all that is required to make the sculpture is to pour wet clay into the mold, let it dry and take it out – hundreds of them, none of which required any individual artistry, skill or personal attention beyond a bit of cleaning up the mold lines.

Indoor Fountains As Ceramic Sculptural Art

Above, the second from the right image of the Harvest Fairy, as the sculptor, Madeyln, has named it, is in the final stage of sculpting. Every detail was created by her own hands. It was her vision and her artistry and attention that went into the piece. You can see, you can feel the hand work and creativity that went into this piece while the one to the left looks sterile, lifeless.

The image on the far right is the piece after bisque firing, glaze-painting and glaze firing to 2300°F. This is the center piece of a ceramic indoor fountain – a work of sculptural art that is and will forever be unique and one-of-a-kind. You can see the fountain running below.

This piece is valuable now. As the years go buy it will become increasingly valuable as such works seem harder and harder to find amidst the plethora of mass produced products. Beneath that is a video of another sculpture fountain by Madelyn. (Note That The Volume Of Both Fountains Is Completely Adjustable.)

Because such a thing is so rare, it can be difficult to truly comprehend that these ceramic indoor fountains cannot be found anywhere else in the world. How many household items in your home can that be said of?

The True Value Of A Ceramic Indoor Fountain

There are few things we can take into our homes that give so much back and contribute so thoroughly to our enjoyment of our homes and lives than a ceramic indoor fountain. Yes, they cost more than the artificial fountains, but then, shouldn’t they? And in fact, in order for us to make them, given the time and work that goes into them, they have to be. We hope you enjoy having them as much as we enjoy making them.
