Cat Fountains?You Bet!
If you have cats and are not aware of cat fountains, this page could save you, and your cats, a great deal of pain and money. Many veterinarians now consider giving your cat a cat fountain to be the single most healthful thing you can do for your cat. Why?
Cats crave moving water because in the wild, which cats still very much are, only moving water is safe. Still/stagnant water can be lethal and our own cats are instinctively aware of this. This is why so many cats seek a dripping tap or want the faucet turned on, or jump into the shower with you or they stir their water with their paw or drink from the toilet, which often has slight movement of water. They need to see the water moving to make them want to drink enough. And many serious ailments in cats are a direct result of not drinking enough water.
But with all the available brands, how do you know which cat fountain to choose?
Naturally we want you to purchase our fountains, and there are good reasons for doing that. The Drinkwell Avalon costs $80 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the minimum recommend rate of every 3 weeks will bring the cost to $300.
The Drinkwell Platinum costs $45 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the minimum recommend rate of every 3 weeks will bring the total cost to $320.
The Drinkwell 360 costs $70 to purchase and over a five year period, purchasing the necessary filters at the recommend rate of every cleaning or about once a week will bring the total cost to $590.
The Petmate Freshflow costs about $40. Filters cost about $3. Some people say they replace the filter every time they clean the fountain, others say they change it about every two weeks. First year cost then when replacing the filter every two weeks is about $120 and about $78/year thereafter. Over five years you will spend an additional $390 for a total cost including purchase and five years of use of $430.
